History
Florence on the Elbe – that is Dresden. And in close proximity of the Marienbrücke bridge and the Saxon State Parliament building, you will notice it: the Erlweinspeicher. A landmark building that today accommodates the Maritim Hotel. The managers of this established hotel chain decided to have one of their conference halls equipped with moulded components by the Emskirchen-based ceiling manufacturer Vogl Deckensysteme.
The Erlweinspeicher is a famous architectural landmark in Dresden. It was erected from 1913 to 1914 by the Dresden municipal planning director Hans Erlwein and initially served as the city warehouse. The building was erected in reinforced concrete skeleton construction. This modern construction allowed a 36-metre wide, 76-metre long and nearly 40-metre high building to be erected. It has a useful area of 20,000 m², and its impressive outer appearance shapes the cityscape distinctively. The listed building was completely gutted during reconstruction and now serves as a multi-storey hotel with an interesting atrium. The entire conversion took place from November 2004 to May 2006, ending with the opening on 15 May 2006. As a so-called upper middle-class congress hotel, it houses 328 rooms, 40 of them being suites, as well as halls of various sizes: One of them seats 4,150. Moreover, the hotel features a restaurant with 425 seats as well as 340 seats on the Elbe Terrace. An elegant bar seating 100 as well as an attractive swimming pool with adjoining 405 m² spa area enhance the hotel services to the benefit of the guest. Some of the city's major sights, such as Semperoper, Zwinger or Frauenkirche, are in walking distance. The International Congress Center Dresden is directly adjacent to the hotel.

In one of the six conference rooms, the ceiling manufacturer Vogl Deckensysteme installed a ceiling of prefabricated moulded components. They are prefabricated in their final form at the factory and packaged for transport to the site in easy-to-assemble units. The drywall installer mounts the components to a special ceiling framework. The so-called VoglFalt-Fix system is used for the corner connections so as to achieve neat, exact and even results. This system allows corner connections of panel edges around cladding and moulded elements of plasterboard to be installed without any trouble. The VoglFalt-Fix is a moulded element with double adhesive tape. After the protective film is peeled off, the limbs of the moulded elements are folded together and affixed in the respective position using gentle pressure. That is all it takes for the corner angle, fitted with a powerful adhesive, to hold.
The result is a perfect ceiling border for an optimum ceiling system.
